Program Objectives

In this program, topics related to two important learning and skill areas that individuals need to succeed in modern life will be studied.

One is Social Emotional Learning (SEL), which nurtures careful and participatory behavior in both classroom and extracurricular activities, learning pleasure, a sense of belonging, a desire to collaborate with other students, positive attitudes toward school, and social behaviors such as empathy and kindness that reduce depression and stress, thus facilitating learning.

The other is Critical Thinking Skills, which are essential cognitive skills for increasingly complex, globalized, and digital economies and societies.

Throughout the program, the aim is to increase participants' knowledge and skills on the conceptual dimensions of social emotional learning and critical thinking, why both skill areas are important, and the tools and methods for teaching these skills in schools and classrooms, creating awareness, and changing attitudes and behaviors.

The following topics will be covered during the program:

  • Social emotional learning concepts
  • What is social emotional learning?
  • Why is social emotional learning important?
  • Student-teacher-learning environment relationships in social emotional learning
  • Critical thinking concept
  • Critical thinking barriers and tendencies
